Petra Parvati Meedt, MS, MA, LPA, PHD Candidate

Petra Parvati Meedt, MS, MA, LPA, PHD CandidateAdjunct Faculty

Biography:

As Adjunct Faculty in the MBA Program, I am excited about sharing with our students the riches of Transpersonal Psychology and Organizational Psychology and aim to support them to find innovative ways to balance personal lives with their professional and academic goals.

My professional training includes the completion of a master’s degree (M.S.) in Counseling Psychology with specialization in family therapy and a second master’s degree (M.A.) in Cultural Anthropology, as well as studies in Transpersonal Psychology (PhD).

Additional to my formal education, I have completed certifications in Dream Studies, Clinical Hypnotherapy, and Substance Abuse Counseling and have worked for more than 15 years as therapist and clinician with diverse populations (adolescents, immigrants, survivors of domestic violence, adolescent mothers, and with the homeless population and those in recovery from substance abuse).

Parallel to my clinical and academic work, I have developed various businesses (like for example a community kitchen and catering business that provided locally sourced and highly nutritious culinary creations for Yoga Retreats and the Film Industry) and I enjoy supporting local farmers and community projects through organizing fundraising events and writing project proposals/grants.

My personal background is a combination of different cultures and influences as I was born in Romania, raised in Germany, and have been living since more than 20 years in the U.S. between Texas, New York, California, and the Caribbean (Puerto Rico). I consider myself a livelong researcher and learner and enjoy observing and writing about the diversity of human experience in all its variety and colorful expression.  As an educator, I am passionate about creating experiences that facilitate reflection, transformation and integration and about sharing practices, strategies and techniques that inspire joy, connection, awareness, and balance within and without (in our interactions with others and with the natural environment).
