As an Academic Advisor at Sofia University for Business Administration students, Megan Prell understands online and hybrid learners by seeing it, living it, and teaching it. Behind that role is a curriculum and instructional design professional with more than 20 years of experience across the full educational continuum, from early childhood through graduate programs.
At her core, Ms. Prell is a builder and facilitator of learning systems. Across her career as an educator and designer, she has developed curriculum, trained faculty, and built programs that serve learners at every level, including the ones traditional instruction tends to leave behind. She has overhauled 50+ courses in Canvas, authored two institutionally adopted textbooks, and designed 30+ original courses from the ground up for adult learners with intellectual and developmental disabilities, all built and reviewed to the highest accessibility standards. Her specialization is designing instruction that works for everyone, in and out of the room.
Her design philosophy is simple: accessibility is not an accommodation added at the end, it is the starting point of good design. The most elegant learning experiences remove barriers before a learner ever encounters them, and the measure of a course is not how impressive it looks but how reliably it carries every learner to mastery. She approaches each build as both architect and advocate, designing around the real learner rather than an imagined average.
That same philosophy shapes how she advises. Ms. Prell sees every student as a whole person with a full life running in the background, where school is one of many things they juggle, not the only one. She meets students where they are and treats their success as her own. Whether designing a course or walking a student through one, her aim is the same: to make the path clearer, kinder, and centered on the learner.
