John Widdowson, CBE served as Principal and Chief Executive of New College Durham (UK) for twenty two years. Before that he worked in further and higher education in several institutions across England. John also served on the national Higher Education Funding Council for six years and was President of the English Association of Colleges. Since retiring from New College, John has worked as an independent consultant, specialising in higher technical and vocational education and governance. He chairs the Board of Governors of NCG, England’s largest college of further and higher education.
