Raisa Velazquez, Director of International Partnerships and Recruitment, has been with Sofia University since early 2019. She earned her master’s degree in International Higher Education and Intercultural Relations from Lesley University. She offers several years of experience in the field of international student immigration advising, international admissions processes, recruitment, and higher education enrollment practices. One of her main responsibilities is to actively work with other departments to increase our international enrollment and build organic partnerships with other organizations. She also serves as the main Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) and oversees the execution of F-1 policies and best compliance practices at Sofia.
She works cohesively with other senior leaders to support the President and the school in advancing the mission of the University. With her background as an educated Latina, a worldly individual, and a dedicated specialist in varied professional settings, her previous professional experiences have culminated in professional growth to prove her passion for higher education.
Yali Wang, Director of Global College, has been with Sofia University since 2017. She has her Master’s Degree in Business Administration from USC, and has several years of experience maintaining and developing relations with Asian higher education organizations.
Penny Li, Director of Enrollment Management and Alumni Affairs, has been with Sofia since 2021. She holds an MPA in Public Sector Management and Leadership from California State University, Northridge, and an MBA in Executive Management and Entrepreneurship from the California Institute of Advanced Management. She comes to Sofia with over 10 years of leadership in Outreach & Recruitment, Admissions, Student Services, and International Relations in U.S. higher education. Ms. Li’s professional experience in national and regional accreditation, compliance, articulation, student counseling, and SEVP regulations brings extensive knowledge of best practices in enrolling and serving international students.
