Resilience: A Quest for Peace in a Turbulent World

Fall 2020 Virtual Seminar

This seminar invites us to explore our personal resilience and the many ways that we have found peace during uncertain times.

“When we learn how to become resilient, we learn how to embrace the beautifully broad spectrum of the human experience.” ― Jaeda Dewalt

We are all called to embark upon the quest of becoming our authentic selves. Inevitably, we encounter pain and troubles on our journeys; however, those challenges can feed our resilience.  Within our journey, we often discover our shadow and may experience inner conflict and struggle within ourselves.

As Robert Johnson writes there is gold in these shadow struggles, the very gold that enables us to be resilient in our quest to be fully and authentically who we are. Eckhart Tolle reminds us that you find peace not by rearranging the circumstances of your life, but by realizing who you are at the deepest level.

Philosophy of Education

Our courses are developed by experts in their field and instructed by faculty with varying philosophies. Each course is based on principles of holistic, transformative, transpersonal, and adult learning. We recognize that adults learn best when given freedom and choice, when they are trusted to make decisions, and when they are encouraged to learn in multiple ways within the structure of existing goals and objectives.  Our hope is that students make choices that inform them, illuminate their imaginations, and help them to integrate and apply new material in ways that serve their lives, their communities, and the planet.

In our courses students learn by reading scholarly and imaginative works, opening their hearts, expanding their knowledge through culturally diverse and ecologically informed perspectives, working contemplatively, engaging in reflective scholarship, participating in self-reflection, using imagination, and opening to epistemologies of the heart.  Our courses are collaborative, dynamic, and transformative. Learning is authentic, embodied, creative, and enriches personal, spiritual, and professional development. We encourage students to take a wisdom approach toward life and to move beyond current limitations, to discover new guiding principles, and to move toward greater alignment with their life’s purpose. We want our students to engage in true self-transformation while developing their professional aspirations. In the end, we hope that you will bring your transformed awareness into your communities.
