“Living Deeply: The Art & Science of Transformation in Everyday Life” by Marilyn Schlitz Ph.D.
What can we learn from the positive consciousness transformations of others?
What can we learn from over fifty teachers and masters of the world’s spiritual, religious and trans formative traditions?
Amazon Book Review: “An Essential Guide. The most important thing that happened in our lifetimes is that we gained access to all the spiritual paths to awakening. Since the 1960’s, when eastern religions made contact with the west, thousands of spiritual seekers have been using those techniques and awakened. For our biosphere to survive, and therefore all life on this planet, it is essential that most of us awaken to the truth that we are all One. We go through together, none alone. This book is the guide, easy to read, including quotes from the greatest spiritual teachers of our time. A map of our necessary transformation, the core of evolving consciousness.”
From a Kindle Edition Book Excerpt: “The purpose of Living Deeply is to make these transformative shifts in awareness available to all who seek them. Living Deeply is written by three scholars who have reached out to the great transformative teachers of our time and collected their accumulated wisdom in this volume. The authors and I share the belief that all human beings are born with innate capacities for compassion, joy, and service; unfortunately, living in our complex, torn world frequently buries these birth gifts. It is my hope that Living Deeply will, for many, open the door to a life that is wider, deeper, and more fulfilling that they had ever imagined possible. May it be so.”
How can we release our fear of death to lead a richer, fuller everyday life?
What can accepting our eventual death do to benefit our consciousness?
Is one of the benefits of living a good life to benefit us with a good death in the end?
Amazon Book Review: “In this well structured book, Dr Marilyn is breaking the common thought considering death as a taboo. With a sweet stunt of defining death as a material end or a way of spiritual escape, the book gives an overview of different cultural views of considering this phenomenon and how to deal with it. I especially appreciated the quotation at the beginning of chapter 1 where at the end of your own life you feel that you “held no regrets, and that you loved well”. Loving well is a way of self esteem, and when we have enough self esteem; for a noble purpose in life; and mainly if we feel that we did it; normally death will be welcome. This is in a word the scope of this book.
Finally, I appreciated the great effort to collect all the testimonies and books’ abstracts that form in great part the material of this book. I should not in any case forget the excellent forward by Mr. Deepak Chopra for clearing the identity of death in light of quantum physics. Thanks a lot.”
From a Kindle Edition Book Excerpt: “I have thought about death since the age of six, when my grandfather passed away suddenly. The event was shocking because my little brother and I had spent the day with him – a particularly wonderful day that included going to see Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves at the movies – and he died in that night. I woke up to hear the women of the house crying out in grief, a terrifying experience.
It’s taken me almost a lifetime to fully comprehend that death is what makes life possible. The passing away of one form allows a new one to emerge. This is a continuous and totally necessary process. You were a child, and now that child is no longer here. You were a teenager, and now that teenager is no longer here.
Death gives us an opportunity to return to what was given to us at the moment we were created.”
