Student Services

We celebrate the rich diversity of our student population. Your time here at Sofia should not only contribute to your growth educationally, but you should also utilize the many services we have available for our students.

Disabilities Support Services (DSS)

The university is committed to working with enrolled students who have disabilities as defined under section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) and the ADA Amendments Act (ADAAA) of 2008 and March 2011. The Dean of Student Services will work with individuals on a case-by-case basis to create a plan of reasonable accommodation for any student who has a permanent disability or through recent assessment and diagnosis – can document a disability. For information, email us at Student_Services@Sofia.edu.

The Writing and Research Center (WRC)

The Writing & Research Center at Sofia University is here to help students interested in improving their critical thinking, scholarly writing, and communication skills. The center provides free one-on-one tutoring, writing workshops, ongoing writing support groups, style guide resources, and much more to help you improve your skills. Tutors assist students with everything from organization and flow of your content to compliance with APA/Sofia-style guidelines. While we primarily focus on scholarly writing, assistance is also available for other types of class assignments, such as reflection and reaction papers. For information about the WRC, contact us at Writing_Lab@sofia.edu.

Community Center for Health & Wellness (CCHW)

Sofia University’s Community Center for Health & Wellness serves our community with professional counseling and spiritual guidance. CCHW selects, trains and supervises compassionate practitioners who honor the spiritual and religious beliefs of our diverse community, and empowers our clients to grow and expand their inherent health and wholeness. Career Resource Center (CRC)

The mission of the Career Resource Center is to promote the success and prosperity of our students and alumni by facilitating your personal and professional growth and development, and by assisting you in bringing your own special gifts to the world with purpose, confidence and joy. On average, individuals in the USA will experience between three to seven major career transitions during the course of their work-life. While we cannot promise to “place” our alumni in jobs, our services and expertise can make the transitions easier. Contact the Career Resource Center by calling (650) 493-4430, ext. 292, or by email at CRC@sofia.edu.

Community on Diversity and Equity (CODE)

The Committee on Diversity and Equity (CODE) is a cross-constituency diversity-focused advisory and support committee consisting of students, staff, and faculty. CODE is dedicated to mobilizing Sofia’s community (staff, faculty, students, and board of trustees) to create a culture that supports all the diversities within Sofia and works to ensure equity within each of the sub-communities as well as in the whole community – especially as related to those diversities. The team does this through acting as sponsors for events, dialoging with the administration about diversity matters, and working on strategic projects. The team meets every two weeks during the on-campus academic year and new members are welcome. For information, send an email to diversity@sofia.edu.

Student Senate

The Student Senate is a student-run, shared governance organization that ensures adequate student representation from on-campus and hybrid programs in the daily operations of Sofia University.  For more information about the many services we provide to our students, please contact us at Student.Senate@Sofia.edu.
