The school will also unveil new program offerings, including undergraduate completion programs and a variety of public programs and events.
Neal King, Ph.D., is the first president of Sofia University. King also currently serves as President of the International Association of University Presidents (IAUP) and is a founding member of LGBTQ Presidents in Higher Education. He also serves on the Executive Board of California Campus Compact.
The name change from Institute of Transpersonal Psychology (ITP) to Sofia University was made official in July, but the school is still undergoing the full transition which includes the physical expansion into a new building adjacent to the current campus. The school will continue to offer graduate programs with an emphasis on transpersonal, transformative education, but is also introducing undergraduate completion programs and hopes to connect with the external community in new ways through a wide variety of public programs.
Chair of the Board of Trustees, Chris von Bogdandy, commented, "The new program offerings and building expansion will allow the university to connect with the community in ways we never thought possible. It is a very exciting time to be a part of the Sofia community, and it's wonderful to be able to invite the public to experience our unique culture and programs."
