Laura Bakosh, Co-Founder at Inner Explorer, Receives $10,000 grant from AETNA to Bring Mindfulness Program to Florida Schools.
Laura Bakosh, Ph.D discovered the benefits of mindful awareness more than 20 years ago when she was trying to manage the stress of travel and long workdays. While working at GE, Laura had the insight to share her mindful awareness practice with hundreds of fellow employees. Upon seeing the many positive results the daily practice had on performance, creativity, and wellbeing, she realized it would be the perfect fit for education.
Inner Explorer’s daily mindfulness practices reduce student stress, help strengthen self-regulation skills and improve academic performance. Teachers in pre-K through 12th grade classrooms simply log on and press ‘play’. While the implementation is simple, the results are dramatic. 10 mindful minutes are all you need to help kids focus, reduce behavior issues and give yourself more time to engage and inspire your students.
How does it work? Inner Explorer programs follow the world-renowned Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction protocol, and have been tailored to specific age groups. The programs provide daily consistency, within the regular curriculum, with existing classroom teachers.
The AETNA Grant will support daily mindfulness training for over 12,000 students, helping them reduce stress and increase academic performance.
