Residential Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology: About APA Accreditation
Sofia University started its groundbreaking Psy.D. program in clinical psychology in the fall of 2010. This spiritually-oriented program was designed to provide a student with the theoretical foundations, clinical training and research skills necessary to sit for licensure as a psychologist. The program was also designed to meet both APA criteria for accreditation and the National Register standards.
Sofia University is actively engaged in the process of seeking APA accreditation for its new Psy.D. program. We are currently collecting the necessary data for the next step in the process of APA accreditation, which is to submit a Self Study. Per APA policy, we become eligible to submit our Self Study when we have students at every level of the program.
Our outstanding clinical faculty have been working closely as a team to identify the evidence-based foundation for our spiritually-oriented approach, as well as to integrate the best and latest of the science and wisdom-based fields of clinical psychology with transpersonal and spiritually-oriented perspectives.
As a student in this newly developed and innovative program, you will have the opportunity to have a voice in shaping the program as it evolves and to be a part of the excitement and dedication of a faculty deeply committed to creating a rigorous, soulful, integrated, and accreditable program.
Sofia University has been regionally accredited by Western Association of Schools and Colleges Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities (WASC) since 1998.
