Master of Counseling Psychology (MACP)

Student Spotlight: Tito Poza
Tito

Tito Poza is currently in the M.A. in Counseling Psychology program at Sofia University. Tito grew up in Menlo Park, California and moved to Tokyo, Japan when he was twenty-four to teach English for a year. He ended up staying in Japan for twenty-four years as a teacher and only returned to get married and to become a therapist or counselor. As a teacher in Japan, he often pondered if his situation was what he wanted to continue doing for the rest of his life. Tito is a spiritual person who thought that he had something else to accomplish in life. He is interested in therapy and counseling because he believes it is a way for people to make the world a better place to live in. Longing to be a part of the transpersonal way of living, he applied to Sofia University.

Tito came to Sofia because he knew it was unlike any other school where he could study psychology. He came specifically for the unique approach and atmosphere at Sofia, and was drawn to methods of learning that concentrate on personal growth, as well as the learning that would prepare him for his future. Tito appreciates that Sofia University professors and staff members treat students as an individual and not “just a number” like some other institutions or universities do.
