Director of Psychology for the BA Bachelor's Degree Completion Program

Sofia University (formerly the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology) seeks candidates for full-time faculty position to serve as Executive Core Faculty and Director of the BA in Psychology in the University’s Bachelor Completion Program. Starting date for the position is April 1, 2013. Screening of candidates for the position is on a rolling basis and will begin immediately.

The Director of the BA in Psychology provides academic leadership for this Low-Residency (mostly on-line) Program, and teaches within the program. Reporting to the Program Chair, the successful candidate will work with the Chair of the Bachelor Completion Program to facilitate learning, quality teaching, scholarship, and services. 

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Guide Curriculum and Program Development
  • Teach in the program
  • Develop and Manage Program Budget
  • Interview prospective students
  • Hire Adjunct Faculty
  • Address student issues and concerns
  • Participate in the Academic Leadership Group

Requirements:

  • M.A. in Psychology or related discipline (Ph.D. preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience in working with cultural, religious, and spiritual diversity
  • Teaching experience that includes experiential orientation and on-line teaching
  • Familiarity with Transpersonal Psychology/Studies as a field
  • An ongoing personal or spiritual practice that informs teaching and research
  • Administrative experience in higher education a plus

Sofia University is a regionally accredited (WASC), non-sectarian private university with an outstanding faculty providing leadership in the transpersonal field. We offer MAs and PhDs in Clinical and Transpersonal Psychology in on-campus and distance learning programs.  We are launching the Bachelor Completion Program in September, 2013.

Facilities Manager

The Facilities Manager assumes responsibility for the operation, maintenance, and appearance of the entire physical plant, equipment, and property. The incumbent coordinates the planning, scheduling, and evaluation of maintenance operations, improvement programs, and property management. Reporting to the CFO, the Facilities Manager supervises two Facilities Assistants and various student workers.

 

Responsibilities:

The Facilities Manager assumes responsibility for the operation, maintenance, and appearance of the entire physical plant, equipment, and property. The incumbent coordinates the planning, scheduling, and evaluation of maintenance operations, improvement programs, and property management. Reporting to the CFO, the Facilities Manager supervises two Facilities Assistants and various student workers.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED required; Associate degree in a related discipline preferred
  • 7 to 10 years progressive maintenance experience with small to medium organizations with knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and general maintenance procedures; certification in one or more areas strongly preferred
  • Previous experience in a Higher Education environment strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and operations; certification strongly preferred
  • Ability to troubleshoot, modify, and maintain maintenance systems and equipment
  • Knowledge of and ability to read blueprints and schematics helpful
  • Excellent communications skills (verbal and written); previous supervisory experience preferred
  • Keen organizational/planning skills; ability to draft project proposals
  • Knowledge of OSHA, Safety, Emergency Response practices
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed
  • Ability to exert above average physical effort including walking across campus, lifting, bending, and carrying light to moderately heavy materials and equipment
